Start setting your home screen by pressing and holding a blank area on your screen (meaning where no apps are placed), and home screen options will appear. IOS users can also download apps from the App Store that provide a variety of designs for screen backgrounds. If you do not have a photo you want to use in your gallery, just browse the web and find a photo that suits. Then choose to set the photo as either the lock screen, home screen or both. Click on the share icon on the lower left corner of the screen, then select 'Use as Wallpaper.'. Go to the 'Photos' app and select the photo you want to use. (Silent notifications are those that come up without a sound or vibration when they’ve appeared, such as the weather or a Google News headline. Tap on “Notifications on lockscreen” to choose whether you want to show both alerts and silent notifications, show alerts only, or not show any notifications at all. Scroll down to the “Lock screen” section.

But while we’re waiting, there are ways to at least tweak the way notifications appear on your lock screen so that you get the information you want when you want it.
It may be a while before many Android phones have this capability - as of this writing, only two Lenovo tablets and two Nokia phones are scheduled to get it. Google recently announced that it was going to introduce Ambient Mode to Android lock screens, which would display interesting and useful info on your lock screen, effectively turning your phone into a smart display.
